And more people asking you to ping. I don't know how it is on Lux, but since the AB weekend there's been this increase in balanced teams and/or people actually worrying about your build on the Kurz side.

It's hard to prove such statements...

I just AB yesterday and found myself with epic tards again. Maybe you can introduce me to someone who doesn't stare at red bars and hate energy.

Yeah and there's alot of ppl using wiki builds. Palm Strike sins, Prage warriors, RoJ monks, and BA turrets are in the fashion atm. Too bad 80% of the people who run them aren't really that good.

Hm. I haven't ABed for about a week courtesy of midterm exams. I shall go back and test my luck again :P

And yes, wiki builds are everywhere. I think the most common question I got asked was 'are you healer or smiter?'

Better to run a medicore wiki build then a crap self-made one. Anyhow its good that people ask for pings. I know i do random ping checks when I AB,

The best is when people get offended and think you're out to steal their god-awesome build.

But seriously when I ask for pings I look for 4 things
-Full skill bar
-Elite Skill
-Non retarded attributes
-Sufficient E-management

Its not up to me to question if the build works or not I know some of mine look retraded until you try them. But ones where they're decked out in 10-15e spells with no e management are just stupid.

That being said this is not bad, its nice to have healers that don't die in 3 seconds flat.

One thing I have seen is a lack of creativity in certain classes, in particular, warriors and sins. Warriors are usually Primal Rage/DP/Hundred Blades and sins are usually Palm Strike.
My friends and i often run real PVP builds and form proper teams. Most of the time we can win unless we are in a team of noobs. YOu can usually tell if they team you are on is intelligent or not when the castle is constantly bombarded and capped.

Stance monk... i have been running that since RA / Gvg and it is my staple monk build... i won;t AB without it.

PS Sins are noobs. a -20% cripple rune and -20% cripple shield and you just laugh all day without needing your stance half the time.

At the end of the day. i think AB has gone down in quality. All you really need now is one or two guild teams on your side and it;s pure pwnage nearly 90% of the time (talking 500 to 28 scores here).

I think it's perfectly fine to question away if you're not sure of the logic behind the skill. If the person can explain the skill choice, I assume the person knows wtf he's doing. It doesn't bar the person being a suicidal leeroy, but at least he has an idea of his skillbar and why it's there.

"It's always worked" should not be the sole explanation, though.

I'd take the person with the crap bar who knows what hes doing than a noob who runs W/E Prage with no idea how to use it.

I get irritated at scrubs and terribad but even more irritated at people who run builds that they know are terrible for AB but choose to do so anyway. Then you get some of the dumbest crap ever - like the Terra Tank vs. the Defy Pain Dolyak war.

Agreed when I run with friends, which is most of the time, we do own much stuff, I like stance monk too but still not as fun as my Aura of Faith build

Yeah i do question builds. People get offended kinda annoying sometimes. But I do have a relatively high expectation, like I said if its missing one of those 4 four things I go right on ahead with the questioning, if it obviously looks flawed I do that too (ranger with enchanted haste??)

If he knows what he is doing why does he have a crap bar?

Still think the quality of people has gone up, I havn't lost a game with less than 100 points for about 6 weeks and I AB everyday.

its awsome how so many people are good sports in ab even if they lose a match. Shame there are certain players that take a loss to heart.

Its cause you have experienced people who realise that losing happens. On the other hand you have new people who expect to win 100%.

Frankly it's vaguely embarrassing to hear the insults being traded off after a match. Honestly, the game lets you switch alliances if you want to, so what's the point of screaming insults at each other? I mean, the guy shouting OMG NOOB SUXON MOB tends to be the same guy who's trailing behind my full team despite us trying to get him to go find his team. Sometimes I really want to smack people and go "Losing happens. Sit down, shut up, and maybe if you spent more time playing and less time trashtalking we'd have won." *facepalm.

(Yeah, I'm an embarrassed Kurzick. Both sides are guilty, though, so I'd probably be an equally embarrassed Luxon if I switched sides.)

haha I know what you mean, I don't even bother looking at sides anymore if someone is being stupid I .. inform them. Even if they're luxon, kinda funny when you get people saying something along the lines of "omg runner noob" or "1v1 me noob"

If they're on my team I just go in all chat something like "Sorry you had to hear that Kurzicks, we got some luxons who don't realise they're in AB" or something along those lines, makes them shut up 90% of the time if some1 from their own team shuts them down.

So nice to know that trashtalkers are trashtalkers no matter which alliance they join. :P At the same time I admit I derive a certain sadistic pleasure from watching the 'sin what just failed to kill me curse me out before /ragequitting. More on topic though, I'm beginning to find that the quality of ABers jumps up and down more than a grasshopper on a sugar high. Could be timezone, could be map: I'm more forgiving of people when I'm playing Grenz or Ancestral, but losing in either map means my opinion of you just drops that much more.

Darth, if I do meet you in an AB match, I shall be very glad to shake virtual hands and say 'good fight'.

Haha, so true, but people running random stuff is the best! If you see something good, you try running it, and if you face off against something bad, you just roll them

im kinda new to the AB scene (played for 1 year, half a year with a PvP-capable pc)
is it just me or have waiting times got a lot longer recently? (from beginning of 2009)?
AB always jsut semed to be for new players, because if everything goes wrong its still a team effort so i still see the player join, get in teh game, then go AFK thinking that its ok

i havn't really noticed that much of a change with th quality of people during a match. It's just afterwards in jq or ab when they are loosing or if we are loosing that they start to become slightly agressive childish. Other then that they are fine to play with.

I just started ABing after playing PvE for the last 14 months. I find it a lot of fun and playing another human is quite different than computer AI. Sure, there are bad games and good games, and nice people and irritating people and people who don't know what they're doing, but I believe the key is to focus on yourself and do your best because you are the only thing that YOU have control over. To complain about something you have no control over is a waste of time. And who has time to trashtalk? Maybe it's because I'm new, but I'm way WAY to busy focusing on what needs to be done to even think about anything other than what my team leader is saying.

And speaking of team leader... I only go in with a guild group of people that I trust/know. They have kindly shown me the ropes and given me advice on builds. I run a ranger but the build on wiki doesn't suit my playing style, so I played around and found a build that does. I really stank at first, but I think I'm getting better. At least, that's my goal.
